Public education in the area is provided by the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District. There are eight public elementary schools, two public middle schools, and two public high schools in Santa Monica.

Additionally, there are nine private schools within the city limits.

There are many neighborhoods that make up the city of Santa Monica. These include: downtown, north of Montana, northeast, Ocean Park, Wilshire Montana, Sunpark, Mid-City, and Pico.

Home prices in the area vary based on size and location with a median sales price hovering around $800,000. Properties range in price from $400,000 for a small condo to more than $3 million for a beachfront home.
